Christmas season is coming and I know why you are here. You’re looking for something to wear on your Christmas party, right? Even though there are still few weeks away from Christmas, it certainly doesn’t stop retail stores from setting out Christmas supplies and playing Christmas music incessantly. Aside from the all-time favorite Santa costume and elf costume, below are a few Christmas costumes to inspire you when you want to bring some Christmas cheer. Or, at the very least, hint to something associated with Christmas like mistletoe, fruitcake or candy canes.
The Grinch who stole Christmas is back. Is the Grinch going to steal Halloween too? He is as green as ever but, hopefully, it isn’t from eating too much candy.
If the Grinch wants to steal Halloween, he is in for a shock when he encounters animatronic decorations and giant animals walking around town. If you are feeling particularly Grinchy, pair up with someone wearing the costume below.
Oh, apparently it’s Christmas Girl this time around. This must be after Cindy Lou Who has grown up, but Whoville must have been getting Grinches from other places causing a ruckus. That is when they decided they needed to train little girls in the art of Cindy Lou-ness, to combat those Grinches.
No cyborg versions of Cindy Lou, no clones with her memory will do either. All the villagers would have to do is to sound the Grinch alarm and the top of the nearest mountain will open, and the girl who is on Christmas Girl duty that day can either fly or use a zip line to get where they are needed to be and save the day. Never fear, Christmas Girl is here!
All aboard the Polar express! While you will be conducting children you will be conducting them around the neighborhood and not the North Pole because it isn’t time to go there just yet. Ah, the North Pole. It is the only location on Earth where no matter what direction you head you can be rest assured that you are going in a southerly direction.
While humans can’t construct a permanent station at the north pole due to constantly shifting sea ice, Santa has no problem setting his workshop there due to a little elf magic. While your conductor duties to the North Pole will be starting up again soon, relax and have fun for now. Just make sure to watch out for furry green dudes who hate Christmas, your training never covered that sort of thing.
How does a magical train conductor prepare for their job as a conductor for a train that takes children to the North Pole? By starting at a very young age of course! While you have plenty of time to learn how to write, read, and do science stuff in conductor school, you will also be learning the fundamentals of what it means to become a conductor of the Polar Express at some point in your life.
This includes courses in proper mustache care, how to take care of a pocket watch, as well as what to do when children you don’t even know were on the train accidentally unhitches one of the train cars. When you grow up and take over the Polar Express conductor position, be sure to make suggestions here and there on procedures to alert you when something is on the roof of the train.
Not only must a Christmas Caroler be able to sing, they must also be able to tolerate cold weather that comes with the time of year that is Christmas. While Christmas caroling is associated with Christmas, the origin of the concept itself had nothing to do with Christmas. Caroling started out as being reserved for processionals, such as a religious or funeral procession, in the 12th and 13th centuries.
Now all you have to figure out, ye Christmas caroler caroling on Halloween, what are the songs you are going to sing? Are you going to sing Christmas songs or Halloween songs? Or a mix of both? Why not mix ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’ and ‘Happy Phantom’ and sing ‘Have Yourself A Happy Little Phantom’? Or how about ‘Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Ghostbuster’?
Remember those chilly days leading up to Christmas where you hung candy canes all over everything that could hold a candy cane? Door knobs, Christmas trees, stockings, tinsel, your dog’s ears. Nothing was safe from that candy with a curved hook once you found out how to get it to stay. You sucked and sucked on it until the all the red came off and it was just white and … very sharp and pointy at one end.
This made it a great tool for unwrapping hard to open presents and made for a great pen if you had a little inkwell available. Now you can relive that nostalgia by dressing as a candy cane yourself, just make sure you don’t get caught on something and have to wait around for someone to come by and help you. That would be a source of endless embarrassment.
If you aren’t keen on being a Christmas Girl who saves your neighborhood from the occasional Grinch, or being a Polar Express conductor, or even a conductor in training, then take a look at the costumes below to see if there are any other Christmas themed costumes you might like. You never know what you could find.
