What is Santa without elves? Described as tiny creatures that can either be male or female, elves have been present in Germanic, British, and Scandinavian folklore in various lights – either as good elves or bad elves. They are supposed to have magical powers and be immortal as well, and one of their jobs was to guard homes against evil. If the people were bad, then the elves would play tricks on you.
Elves did not start to assist Santa Claus until the middle of the 1800s, I guess they got tired of guarding houses? Celebrating Christmas was becoming popular and it was work of Scandinavian writers who included elves into the tale of Santa Clause and wrote them as his little helpers. They traditionally wear green and red clothing with pointy hats and have pointed ears like Vulcans and Romulans, but it would just be so wrong to picture logical Vulcans helping Santa Claus year round with the toys. Itty bitty Vulcans with helium voices making toys and being ever so logical.
Elves are said to make sudden appearances in households in the days leading up to Christmas in order to keep an eye on children and report back to Santa. Interestingly enough, there have been beliefs of elves causing illnesses or conditions. Just as the history of Halloween makes for an interesting read, so does reading about the history of elves in relation to Santa and Christmas. While it may not be a costume choice like Jack Skellington, why not give an elf costume a whirl?
This costume is for those who watched the movie Elf and absolutely loved it. Why not show your love for the movie and the hyperactive character filled with childlike wonder by dressing as him for Halloween? You don't have to constantly be eating sugary things to be Buddy when you are trick-or-treating with a buddy.
This elf costume has a nice fit which will make you really comfortable while wearing it. The fur cuffs and collars, and the leather faux belt makes the overall appearance even better. And oh, don't forget your curly wig!
The mix of pink and red in this costume is absolutely fantastic. With shades being dark values of a color and tints being the lighter values of a color, this tint of pink and that shade of red is an absolutely perfect color combination.
It isn't just the colors themselves, but the placement of the colors. The pink dress has white trim and red decoration near the neck, red belt right in the middle, as well as red tights, or stockings, and red shoes.
With elves being said to appear in households to keep an eye on children and report back to Santa in the past, it is no wonder the Elf on the Shelf thing had become such a big hit. Wonder if that is going to be an upcoming trend, scouring past literary folklore and then creating animatronic dolls and program them to do tasks based on who, or what, they are modeled after. Krampus?
That would be potentially terrifying for children and adults, not great for Christmas, but excellent for Halloween. What would really be awesome is to create eight animatronic, lightweight, reindeer attached to a sled that is partly powered by helium and you have yourself a functional sleigh and reindeer that actually look as though they are flying in the air.
Why have the Elf on the Shelf when you could be on the elf yourself? Or, at the very least, look as though you are getting a piggyback ride from an elf? Optical illusions can be a lot of fun, especially if you are wearing them.
Nothing like wearing a costume of a tall character that makes people wonder how you are able to see, a short costume that makes people wonder how you fit inside it and a costumer that makes it look like you are sitting on something, or being carried around by something else.
Since elves are said to be short, it is only natural that kids would be better suited to portray them. They can even follow around an adult dressed as Santa and hand Santa various tools and candy, as well as lists to tell who has been naughty and who had been nice.
This elf costume is perfect for kids with jolly personality. The hat, striped stockings, and the red boot covers are included already on this costume set. Awesome, isn’t it? Now go get your child ready to become Santa’s holiday helper!
Elves are small so it is better, and cuter for toddlers to dress up as elves! They might not be able to carry as much stuffs since they are smaller than children and their arms are shorter, but they still love to help out when they can.
Even though they can’t carry a lot, they can still help Santa give out treats. As long as they don't eat them first. Anyway, as you can see, this particular elf costume is exclusively for the toddler girls. We’ll have one for the boys so continue below.
