Ah, Halloween. ‘Tis the season of horror movies and trick-or-treating. If you’re a huge Halloween enthusiast, then you’re most likely a fan of Tim Burton as well. He is perhaps one of the most famous icons when you’re talking about gothic horror themes. He is best known for movies like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and so much more. He has created well-crafted characters, from protagonists to antagonists, and everything in between.
Perhaps, though, one of the most iconic movies that people have religiously watch on All Hallows’ Eve is The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s quite possibly one of the best stop-motion movies that fans of animation will surely love – a true classic. I remember this movie being included in our family’s to-watch list every Halloween because it’s great for both children and adults. To think it was based on a poem!
This movie is also where one of the most beloved Halloween icons originated from: Jack Skellington. This fancy-dressing Pumpkin King of Halloween Town is also one of the top picks for people to dress as during this holiday. It’s impossible not to love him. Here, I’ve picked a few options for you and your family, so that you can dress up as Jack Skellington on this special day. After all, we can’t all dress up as superheroes!
The first thing you notice about Jack Skellington is that he is a dapper fellow. That slim-fit pinstripe suit and bat-like bow are the most important parts of his trademark look. This is why I’ve chosen this costume for the true blue fan of the Pumpkin King. This Jack Skellington costume is exactly what you need.
It includes a sleeveless shirt that closes at the back with a zipper. The pinstriped jacket has a single button in front will make you look sharp indeed, a true witch’s dream. The molded bat-shaped bow tie that is held together by an elastic waistband is also a nice touch that complements the entire look. You also get a pair of elongated gloves with stuffed fingertips to get those slender fingers. Finally, it also comes with the skull mask that opens via a slit at the back. It’s not too stuffy. In fact, it’s actually pretty comfortable.
This officially licensed Jack Skellington costume is one of the best ones you’ll ever get at a reasonable price. Mind you, though, you might just burst into song when you’re wearing this to your next Halloween party.
Here’s another great option for those of you who want to dress up as Jack Skellington. Although not as dapper as my first choice, it’s a great alternative if you don’t want all those extras and just want to keep it simple this year. This package includes the pinstripe jacket, of course. Gotta have that, always. It also has the iconic bat bowtie, mask, and ascot.
You can add whichever footwear or pants you want to pair this with, or even get a separate set of gloves if you’ve found one that works for you – or if you’ve managed to get crafty and make your own pair. Otherwise, you can simply make do with any old pair of plain white gloves. It makes it easier to move around and hold stuff. The tailcoat jacket has wider lapels if you want to go the extra mile, and unlike the first option, the bowtie fastens with Velcro strips.
Don’t worry about not seeing through the mask that much because the eyes are made of mesh material. Personally, I think this is a great choice if you want to save a few bucks or if you have other creative plans for this costume.
Now, who says women can’t pull off this look? No one, actually, but it’s still great to know that you can dress up as your favorite Halloween icon, regardless of your sex chromosomes. This Jack Skellington costume is composed of the pinstripe jacket, pants, and bowtie. You can play this up however you want to. You can opt to put on a pair of sexy black lace gloves or even skip the gloves altogether. It’s not one of those costumes that become unrecognizable sans a few pieces.
The jacket has a white insert with button in front, but it actually fastens using a hook-and-loop fastener at the back. The pants are slim-fit and flattering, especially to curvier legs. It has an elastic waist, and if I do say so myself, you can probably get away with wearing these pants outside Halloween. The bat bowtie clasps at the back with another hook-and-loop fastener. And yes, this Jack Skellington costume is also officially licensed.
If you’re not a fan of the pants on the previous option for Ms. Skellington, and you think it’s too ‘corporate’, then it’s probably time to sex it up a notch or two! Nobody ever said you can’t wear a sexy Halloween costume. This great take on the classic Jack Skellington costume is the perfect blend of cute and sexy. A little bit of gender bending goes a long way, it seems.
The overall look is gothic, but the costume itself only includes the pullover dress. It has a keyhole neckline and white inset. Instead of the bat bowtie, it was transformed into a collar, which is more convenient because it means less pieces falling off of your costume. You can easily spice this up with a pair of black tights or stockings. As for the shoes, you can play around with either black pumps or a pair of Victorian boots. It’s completely up to you.
Despite not being 100% true to the source material, there is no mistaking this for any other costume because it still has all the necessities, the pinstripes, white inset, and the collar that looks just like the bat bowtie – but better.
If there are only a handful of holidays that kids can enjoy together, Halloween’s one of them. I mean, think of all the candy! They can go trick-or-treating, carve pumpkins, eat candy apples, play pranks, and many more. It’s more a holiday for them that for adults, really. So, that’s no reason for them to miss out on dressing up as their favorite Jack Skellington. After all, The Nightmare Before Christmas is a family movie!
With this Jack Skellington costume, kids can also enjoy being their favorite Halloween icon. This set includes the pinstripe jumpsuit, bowtie, and hood. This is a fun take on the Pumpkin King’s costume because instead of the mask, it comes with a hood with Jack’s face drawn on top. The kid’s face is fully visible, so if your kids tend to get fussy over stuffy costumes, then this is the perfect costume for them!
Finally, we have one final children’s Jack Skellington costume for all you Halloween enthusiasts. And why not? Dressing kids up and role playing as their favorite characters is one of the best ways to make them more creative and imaginative, and these traits are very important for children to have. If they wish to be Jack Skellington for a day, then so be it! I’ve got another great costume that will make him feel like Halloween Town’s most beloved citizen.
This set includes the pinstripe jumpsuit, bowtie, and the mask. It’s very easy to wear, which is great for kids because it fastens with Velcro strips at the back. It looks exactly like the smart tuxedo that Jack wears throughout the movie. The bowtie is made of felt and it, too, fastens with Velcro straps. What’s more is that this costume is officially licensed. The mask also has a band that will keep it securely in place. So grab your trick-or-treat buckets and let’s get some candy!
